I hike, I blog

tom's hiking faceTwo-Heel Drive is a blog for hikers, campers, backpackers and nature cravers in Silicon Valley and the San Francisco Bay Area. Need someplace to go? I've hiked all the best Bay Area trails: check out my favorite hikes or read the park profiles I wrote for the San Jose Mercury News.

Hiking with dogs: everything you need to know

I found this page brimming with details on hiking and backpacking with dogs. It explains that the strongest breeds are slow walkers, and that hiking won’t necessarily ruin a dogs hips. It has tips on dog first aid, on whether to keep your pooch on a leash, on … well, it’s just all in there.

The site is called Uberpest’s Journal, and it’s so run rampant with hiking-related stuff that I’m a bit shame-faced at having discovered it only just now. (Funny how Google is the answer to all your online needs, except when it isn’t.)

I’ve been corresponding with the author of that site since July about appearing on the WildeBeat. Hopefully, you’ll be able to hear her, and not just read her writing, within the next 1-2 months.
