Two-Heel Drive is a blog for hikers, campers, backpackers and nature cravers in Silicon Valley and the San Francisco Bay Area. Need someplace to go? I've hiked all the best Bay Area trails: check out my favorite hikes or read the park profiles I wrote for the San Jose Mercury News.

Fedak sent me a bunch o’ hiking-related links for my “essentials” series the other day. All commentary is his:
These are more peak bagging sites, but since most peaks have an
approach hike these often double as hiking guides. The largest and the best of the online CA photo albums. (Puts my feeble collection of trip reports to shame)
*The* reference guide to scrambling(non-technical climbing) in northern CA. Bob also organizes the Sierra Challange each summer and runs the Sierra Scrambles Yahoo group
Another peak bagging site with an enormous amount of information on
the Northern Sierra as well as western Nevada.Essential Northern CA message boards and forums:
Whitney Portal Store Message Board

John likes to hike long and hard in the local hills and takes in some Sierra peak-bagging when the mood strikes. He a couple hundred photo albums and going on 10,000 photos from his hikes. Every time I think I’ve found a cool new trail, it seems like he’s already written about it on his site. He’s also good company on a camp-out.
