Wisconsin has been home to some of the most visionary environmental thinkers of all time. John Muir, co-founder of the Sierra Club and seminal figure in the modern environmental movement, grew up on a farm in Marquette County. On this outing we’ll visit the site of his boyhood home at John Muir Memorial County Park. The park includes a section of the Ice Age National Scenic Trail, Ennis Lake and a wide variety of plants and animals. We’ll take some time to talk about some of John Muir’s writings and why his thoughts are still relevant to environmental and conservation issues over a century after he wrote them down. The hike’s for Earth Day<\/a>, by the way. (Me, I’m holding out for Neptune Day.)<\/p>\n
