{"id":1443,"date":"2007-08-30T08:28:22","date_gmt":"2007-08-30T13:28:22","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.tommangan.net\/twoheeldrive\/?p=1443"},"modified":"2007-08-30T08:28:22","modified_gmt":"2007-08-30T13:28:22","slug":"mountain-bikers-injured-at-forest-of-nisene-marks","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.tommangan.net\/twoheeldrive\/index.php\/2007\/08\/30\/mountain-bikers-injured-at-forest-of-nisene-marks\/","title":{"rendered":"Mountain bikers injured at Forest of Nisene Marks"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.santacruzsentinel.com\/archive\/2007\/August\/29\/local\/stories\/10local.htm\">From the Santa Cruz Sentinel: <\/a><\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"q\"><p> An evening bike ride in the Forest of Nisene Marks State Park turned perilous for a local couple Monday when the woman rode off an 80-foot cliff and her husband plummeted nearly as far trying to rescue her.<\/blockquote class=\"q\">\nNisene Marks has  excellent hiking trails, but you do have to keep an ear out for approaching mountain bikers when you&#8217;re on the old fire roads.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"q\"><p>The mountain bikers crashed about three miles from the kiosk at the entrance of the park and, once they were discovered, people hiking nearby gathered to help. Two bystanders, including a Santa Cruz city park ranger, hiked up the creek bed from the Mill Pond Trail to provide first aid to the couple while they waited for rescuers.<\/blockquote class=\"q\">\n<p>Nice to see there were people around on a Monday evening, and that the hiker types helped out (I&#8217;ve never met a hiker who wouldn&#8217;t, actually).<br \/>\n<P>Ever help out on a rescue like this?
