This blog focuses<br \/>\non hiking destinations in southeastern U.S., including the &#8220;South Beyond<br \/>\n6000,&#8221; or the 40 peaks in the Southern Appalachians that rise 6000 feet<br \/>\nor more above sea level.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.discoverwalking.com\/\">Discover Walking<\/a>: This blogger<br \/>\nhas an affinity for walking, and shares that enthusiasm with readers through<br \/>\ntools for walking, paths, and methods that are easy and enticing enough to<br \/>\nmake the unwilling walker to want to walk.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.thefatmanwalking.com\/\">Fat Man Walking<\/a>: Steve Vaught<br \/>\nchronicles his, beginning with his fateful decision to walk across America<br \/>\nto lose weight and regain control of his life. Although he lost weight, was<br \/>\npart of a documentary and a book deal, he faced divorce and a few other trials.<br \/>\nSteve also mentions several other people in his latest entry who have faced<br \/>\nweight-loss issues and how they conquered them. Although the &#8216;journal&#8217; is<br \/>\nsporadic lately, the site is a great tool for inspiration.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/mhunter1122.blogspot.com\/\">Just a Thought<\/a>: Margie Hunter<br \/>\nis 51-years-old with three kids and a husband who writes a sports column.<br \/>\nWhile she chronicles much of her life through her blog, her focus is on walking<br \/>\nand health. Some of her entries are simple, with interesting stats about odd<br \/>\nfacts, but she always provides stats about her weight, calories burned, steps<br \/>\nwalked, and the weather.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.modernhiker.dreamhosters.com\/\">Modern Hiker<\/a>: Casey,<br \/>\nthis blog&#8217;s author, is &#8220;60% Geek, 40% Granola.&#8221; Located in southern<br \/>\nCalifornia, Casey provides information about the area&#8217;s walking and hiking<br \/>\nareas, but he also is interested in the latest walking and hiking tools (that&#8217;s<br \/>\nthe &#8216;geek&#8217; part). He writes about gadgets for a local TV show, and he also<br \/>\nprovides great photos for the armchair hiker.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/nordic-walking-usa.blogspot.com\/\">Nordic Walking USA<\/a>:<br \/>\nNordic Walking is low-impact fitness walking using specially designed, lightweight<br \/>\npoles. The poles relieve stress on the lower body, which creates less pressure<br \/>\non ankles, hips and knees. This blog introduces Nordic walking and offers<br \/>\nadvice, information, and tools for this activity.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/tommangan.net\/twoheeldrive\/\">Two-Heel Drive<\/a>: Tom Mangan<br \/>\nfills his blog with personal interests as well as information about his walks<br \/>\nand hikes. Although he&#8217;s located in northern California, his interests go<br \/>\nwell beyond that area. Great link resource for other walking and hiking enthusiasts.<br \/>\nLike Casey in the &#8220;Modern Hiker&#8221; above, Tom is a writer; so, his<br \/>\nentries are very interesting.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/walking.about.com\/b\/\">Walking Blog<\/a>:<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.walkingnotes.com\/\">Walking Notes<\/a>: Bryan White lives<br \/>\nin Melbourne, Australia, and he writes about walking as a form of exercise<br \/>\nand as a way of getting from A to B. Bryan logs his weight, daily steps, and<br \/>\nprovides inspiration through his blog entries.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Speaking of which, I jogged a full mile again Tuesday morning and plan to repeat on Wednesday.
