It&#8217;s been my &#8220;to go&#8221; list  for some time now (but then again, pretty much the whole range is on that list).   Getting up there isn&#8217;t a terribly daunting task &#8212; it&#8217;s right next to the Pacific Crest Trail &#8212; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.theunion.com\/article\/20071101\/NEWS\/111010153\">though this story in the Nevada County Union notes there are three routes to the top:<\/a> A  four-mile trail, a two-mile trail and even a quarter-mile route, which  requires four-wheel drive and high clearance to make it to the parking area.<\/p>\n<p><P>Either one offers the view of a lifetime, I&#8217;d imagine.<\/p>\n<p><P>Here&#8217;s a view of the Buttes from Highway 49:<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/tommangan.net\/2006images\/06-17-06-tahoenatfrst\/IMG_2690.jpg\" border=\"1\" height=\"283\" width=\"420\"><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Sierra Buttes are a rocky hilltop visible from Highway 49 north of Sierra City.
