2005 is so<\/em> last year; it’s time to think about this one.
\n

I know just one thing for sure: I’m planning a week in mid-September in Southern Utah at a bed & breakfast located strategically between Zion and Bryce Canyon National Parks (gotta love them hoo-doos), with the North Rim of the Grand Canyon just 90 miles to the south. I may spend the time car-gazing, seeing as many sights as possible from the driver’s seat, and hitting the trails on a separate visit. I’ve been told the Grand Canyon rim-to-rim hike is one of the most mind-bogglingly gorgeous hikes in North America, so I may hold it in reserve for a later vacation.<\/p>\n

Other stuff I want to do this year:
\n

Spend consecutive nights on the trail. <\/strong> Last year all my backpacking trips were overnighters. I’ve got some vacation time this spring, so I may burn a few days at Henry Coe State Park while the wildflowers are still in bloom.
\n

Camp in the High Sierra:<\/strong> I’d like to do at least one my multi-day outing in the mountains east of here. I had a nice introduction at Yosemite last year, but spent all my nights in a cozy bed.<\/p>\n

Climb Brokeoff Mountain:<\/strong> Not to be confused with Brokeback, scene of cowboy coitus and much cultural wailing and gnashing of teeth; this peak is in Lassen National Park; I camped fairly near the trailhead last year but didn’t get around to hiking the trail, which is supposed to be wonderful.<\/p>\n

Host a blogger meet-up.
\n<\/strong> I’d like to do a trail get-together with local bloggers and readers of Two-Heel Drive. There must be at least enough to fill a booth at the local Jack in the Box.
