After a solid week of rain we had three nice days, Wednesday to Friday, which I took advantage of by hitting the trails as much as I could in available time and sunlight.

That meant less time for blogging, alas, but if I have to choose, I hike first and squeeze in time to blog.

An oddity of Northern California weather is that it’s like a desert from late April to the end of October — almost no rain falls during the entire expanse — so there’s no point even bothering to worry about the weather. But come November and especially December\/January, it gets downright rainy, so the whims of the weather really come into play. It never gets cold enough for the ground to freeze, so the trails are mud central.

So if the posting gets light around here for a couple days, don’t fret… it just means I’m taking advantage of breaks between the storms.

Today I’m planning on hiking with Mike & Kathy’s <\/a>bunch for the first time in several weeks, assuming we don’t get rained out. It’s mostly drizzle, though, so it shouldn’t be strong enough to call off a hike.
