Among the highlights: <\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Jane Huber of BAHiker.com notes that <a href=\"http:\/\/bayareahiker.blogspot.com\/2009\/05\/la-honda-creek-osp-master-plan.html\">more trails may open at the La Honda Open Space Preserve<\/a> (great news because there are so few trails in the Santa Cruz Mountains).  Those schooled in the history of the Bay Area know that La Honda is where <a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/gp\/product\/0553380648?ie=UTF8&#038;tag=twhedrabaarhi-20&#038;linkCode=as2&#038;camp=1789&#038;creative=390957&#038;creativeASIN=0553380648\">Ken Kesey and the Merry Pranksters <\/a><img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/www.assoc-amazon.com\/e\/ir?t=twhedrabaarhi-20&#038;l=as2&#038;o=1&#038;a=0553380648\" width=\"1\" height=\"1\" border=\"0\" alt=\"\" style=\"border:none !important; margin:0px !important;\" \/> once frolicked back before LSD was illegal (this is why the gray-bearded hippies insist things were so much cooler when they were kids). <\/li>\n<li>Dave Miller of Bay Area Outdoors and Beyond <a href=\"http:\/\/www.baoutdoors.com\/2009\/05\/pt-reyes-coast-camp-loop.html\">stopped in on Coast Camp at Point Reyes National Seashore<\/a>, where he&#8217;s planning take some impressionable youth backpacking. His pictures are excellent. <\/li>\n<li>Calipidder went backpacking along<a href=\"http:\/\/calipidder.com\/wp\/2009\/05\/wilson-valley-backpack-cache-creek-redbud-trail\/\"> the Redbud Trail at Cache Creek Wilderness.<\/a> This is a great place to take your dog backpacking, and it includes a swimming hole. <\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.outsidesd.com\/blog1\/2009\/05\/15\/win-a-stanley-stainless-steel-water-bottle\/\">Outside San Diego<\/a> is giving away six free stainless steel water bottles.  <\/li>\n<li>Roy the Camping Blogger <a href=\"http:\/\/www.campingblogger.net\/camping\/family-camping-backyard.html\">shows how to practice camping<\/a> in your back yard. <\/li>\n<li>Tom Clifton  <a href=\"http:\/\/fluidflow.es-designs.com\/?p=1434\">helped clean up the Coyote Creek. <\/a><\/li>\n<li>Rick the Half Dome Hiker again <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hikehalfdome.com\/blog.html?cq=1&#038;p=1452\">rubs our faces in the fact that he&#8217;s latched onto cool cruise ship gigs<\/a> (and tells how to do stair laps on an ocean liner to prepare for crucial Dome ascents; good to know!).  Speaking of Half Dome: The <a href=\"http:\/\/hikehalfdome.com\/blog.html?cq=1&#038;p=1450\">cables are up<\/a>, if you didn&#8217;t know already. Finally, as long as I&#8217;m on the subject: My first-ever Amazon sale was <a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/gp\/product\/0899974430?ie=UTF8&#038;tag=twhedrabaarhi-20&#038;linkCode=as2&#038;camp=1789&#038;creative=390957&#038;creativeASIN=0899974430\">Rick&#8217;s book<\/a><img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/www.assoc-amazon.com\/e\/ir?t=twhedrabaarhi-20&#038;l=as2&#038;o=1&#038;a=0899974430\" width=\"1\" height=\"1\" border=\"0\" alt=\"\" style=\"border:none !important; margin:0px !important;\" \/>  (I suspect <a href=\"http:\/\/www.californiawinehikes.com\/winehiker\/\">Winehiker Russ<\/a> was my first customer; he&#8217;s planning to lead a tour to the top soon).<\/li>\n<li>Uncooped.com posts the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.uncooped.com\/campergirl\/posts\/919-Redneck-Camping-Guide\">redneck&#8217;s video guide to camping.<\/a> (OK, so it trots out the required good-ol-boy stereotypes; you&#8217;ll be fine as long as you have no redneck friends). <\/li>\n<li>Shoulda posted this last week except I was on vacation: Gambolin&#8217; Man&#8217;s <a href=\"http:\/\/gambolinman.blogspot.com\/2009\/05\/chabot-redwood-huckleberry-sibley-four.html\">guide to great parks in the Oakland hills.<\/a>. <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>OK, those oughta keep you clicking for awhile.
