It was damn hard the first few times.<\/p>\n<p><P><a href=\"http:\/\/www.ryanjordan.com\/weblog\/2006\/02\/the_wilderness_.html\">Ryan Jordan <\/a>sees the outdoor gadgetry of the future (at which time he&#8217;ll write a long, intricately detailed post telling you why you never need such trinkets on the trail.)<\/p>\n<p><P><a href=\"http:\/\/hiking.gadling.com\/2006\/02\/23\/climbing-for-jesus-and-buddha-et-al\/\">Gadling<\/a> tells of representatives of the world&#8217;s major religions climbing Everest in the name of peace, harmony and goodwill toward mankind.   Oughta go well, as long as nobody brings up the subject of religion.<\/p>\n<p><P><a href=\"http:\/\/www.trailcast.org\/programs\/49\">Trailcast<\/a> interviews the guy who builds ULA backpacks in his garage.<\/p>\n<p><P><a href=\"http:\/\/drjosephrock.blogspot.com\/2006\/02\/muli-return-trip-in-april.html\">More amazing scenery<\/a> at In the Footsteps of Joseph Rock.<\/p>\n<p><P><\/p>\n<p><P><a href=\"http:\/\/www.calipidder.com\/mt\/archives\/2006\/02\/sierra_designs.html\">Calipidder<\/a> raves over a minus-20 sleeping bag she&#8217;s field testing (included, of course, is the intense mental concentration required to get out of a nice toasty sleeping bag on sub-zero mornings).<br \/>\n<P><a href=\"http:\/\/www.yosemiteblog.com\/2006\/02\/23\/how-to-avoid-an-encounter-with-a-bear\/\">Yosemite Blog<\/a> links to tips on avoiding bears (question of the day for people who remember the &#8217;70s: do truck drivers still call the highway patrol &#8220;bears&#8221;?).<br \/>\n<P><a href=\"http:\/\/cutter.wordpress.com\/2006\/02\/22\/in-a-word-yes\/\">Cutter<\/a> cautions that GPS devices can weaken your innate navigation skills (of course if you had innate navigation skills you&#8217;d never need a GPS right?)<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/bigwampum.blogspot.com\/2006\/02\/so-all-alone-i-keep-wolves-at-baythere_22.html\">The Dude <\/a>recounts how he overcame his fear of plunging down impossibly steep ski slopes (I asked him to and he was real nice about it).<\/p>\n<p><P><a href=\"http:\/\/chatter.4imprint.com\/ourhike\/archive\/2006\/02\/23\/6287.aspx\">The Our HIke<\/a> gals are almost to West Virginia.
