Every summer a few brave souls attempt to hike the whole distance &#8212; and the few who pass our way see some of our favorite Bay Area locales (including <a href=\"http:\/\/www.tommangan.net\/twoheeldrive\/index.php\/mount-diablo-state-park\/\">Mount Diablo State Park<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.tommangan.net\/twoheeldrive\/index.php\/category\/trails\/dayhikes\/contra-costa-parks\/briones-regional-park\/\">Briones Regional Park<\/a> on my side of the Bay.)<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.discoverytrail.org\/states\/california\/index.html\">The ADT in California<\/a> traverses some of our finest terrain, starting on the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.tahoerimtrail.org\/\">Tahoe Rim Trail<\/a> and working its way down the Sierra slope through Auburn to the Delta and on to the East Bay. <\/p>\n<p>Bay Area hikers<a href=\"http:\/\/www.gottawalk.com\/\"> Ken and Marcia Powers<\/a> were the first to through-hike all 4900 miles of the ADT in <a href=\"http:\/\/www.gottawalk.com\/ADT2005\/ADT2005.htm\">2005<\/a>. (They&#8217;re hiking the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.gottawalk.com\/ICT2009\/ict_itinerary.htm\">Idaho Centennial Trail<\/a> right now).<\/p>\n<p>Robin Grapa, who hiked the whole trail with her mom in 2006 to raise money for bone marrow disease,<a href=\"http:\/\/www.our-hike.blogspot.com\/\"> is still updating her blog.<\/a>  A few of my hearty regular readers will remember <a href=\"http:\/\/www.tommangan.net\/twoheeldrive\/index.php\/tag\/american-discovery-trail\/\">Two-Heel Drive posts<\/a> tracking her progress.
