{"id":3518,"date":"2009-09-22T18:44:55","date_gmt":"2009-09-23T02:44:55","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.tommangan.net\/twoheeldrive\/?p=3518"},"modified":"2009-09-22T18:44:55","modified_gmt":"2009-09-23T02:44:55","slug":"new-guides-feature-at-everytrail-com","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.tommangan.net\/twoheeldrive\/index.php\/2009\/09\/22\/new-guides-feature-at-everytrail-com\/","title":{"rendered":"New Guides feature at EveryTrail.com"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I&#8217;m posting because, ahem, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.everytrail.com\/guides\">I wrote most of them<\/a> (and Stuart of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.trailspotting.com\/\">Trailspotting<\/a> wrote the rest, on his favorite Hawaii hikes). <\/p>\n<p>It was an ambitious project: Joost Schreve, EveryTrail&#8217;s CEO, hired me to write 25 guides to Bay Area hikes &#8212;  I&#8217;ve been working on them off and on over the past two months; it&#8217;s one of the main reasons I wasn&#8217;t blogging.  <\/p>\n<p><!--more--><br \/>\nI tried to cover all the Bay Area bases with an <a href=\"http:\/\/www.everytrail.com\/guide\/san-francisco-bay-area\">intro to the Bay Area<\/a>, turn-by-turn directions on hikes such as <a href=\"http:\/\/www.everytrail.com\/guide\/horse-heaven-trail-to-mission-peak\">Mission Peak <\/a>and the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.everytrail.com\/guide\/ohlone-wilderness-trail\">Ohlone Wilderness Trail<\/a>, points of interest such as the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.everytrail.com\/guide\/marin-headlands\">Marin Headlands<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.everytrail.com\/guide\/angel-island-state-park\">Angel Island<\/a>, and themes such as <a href=\"http:\/\/www.everytrail.com\/guide\/bay-area-redwood-hikes\">redwood<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.everytrail.com\/guide\/bay-area-wildflower-hikes\">wildflower hikes<\/a>. <\/p>\n<p>Pretty much everything in the guides has been covered here &#8212; while it was tough writing about all the great Bay Area hikes while living 2,700 miles away, it was a way to remain connected to them.  <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I&#8217;m posting because, ahem, I wrote most of them (and Stuart of Trailspotting wrote the rest, on his favorite Hawaii hikes).
