All these have RSS feeds; some haven&#8217;t been updated<br \/>\nin awhile but perhaps a link from us will inspire them to get on with the essential<br \/>\nbusiness of blogging. <\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.breecher.com\/blog\/\">Haiku<\/a> &#8212; The home of bearded<br \/>\nkilt-wearing hard-core hiker Andrew Breecher, who of late is in the High Sierra<br \/>\ntrekking the Pacific Crest Trail from Mexico to Canada. His Appalachian Trail<br \/>\njournal is <a href=\"http:\/\/www.breecher.com\/blog\/\">here<\/a>. <\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/besthike.com\/blog\/\">Besthike<\/a> &#8212; Rick McCharles&#8217; blog<br \/>\nfrom his site attempting to profile the world&#8217;s best hikes (the challenge<br \/>\nbeing that there are always far too many trails left off the list). So far<br \/>\nhe&#8217;s had some nifty links to trails in cool places like Tasmania and cool<br \/>\ngear like a Swiss Army Knife with an MP3 player built in.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/hike.jeremyflint.com\/\">Smoky Mountain Hiking<\/a> &#8212; Jeremy<br \/>\nFlint&#8217;s accounts of hikes in and around the Smoky Mountain National Park.<br \/>\nRecent posts have such things as an <a href=\"http:\/\/hike.jeremyflint.com\/2006\/06\/26\/abrams-falls-hike\/\">adorable<br \/>\npic<\/a> of his little guy in a backpack, and a post with hints on how to <a href=\"http:\/\/hike.jeremyflint.com\/2006\/06\/11\/getting-around-the-smokies\/\">avoid<br \/>\nGatlinburg traffic jams<\/a>. <\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.thenewstribune.com\/adventure\/hike\/\">Hike of the Week<\/a><br \/>\n&#8212; The Tacoma News Tribune&#8217;s central storehouse for hikes in Washington State,<br \/>\npresented by The Mountaineers Tacoma Branch Hiking\/Backpacking Committee.<br \/>\nPretty straightforward, with trail descriptions, driving directions and difficulty<br \/>\nratings. Nice one to check out before a trip to the Cascades. <\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.visitrenotahoe.com\/reno_tahoe_blog\/\">Reno-Tahoe blog<br \/>\n<\/a>&#8212; If you&#8217;ve been in this neighborhood you can be forgiven for wondering<br \/>\nwhy any sane person would step foot in a Casino when there&#8217;s so much cool<br \/>\nstuff afoot in the hills nearby. The blog has <a href=\"http:\/\/www.visitrenotahoe.com\/reno_tahoe_blog\/about.php\">multiple<br \/>\nauthors<\/a>, all of whom have serious backcountry cred. <\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.grandcanyonhiker.com\/blog\/\">Grand Canyon Blog<\/a> &#8212;<br \/>\nHosted by Ken McNamara and Rob Kleine, two veteran Canyon hands who&#8217;ve written<br \/>\nmuch about the landmark. Last update was April 23, but there&#8217;s ample cool<br \/>\nstuff already posted, like the links to a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.grandcanyonhiker.com\/blog\/?p=16\">glass<br \/>\nbridge<\/a> being built over the canyon. <\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.utah.com\/travelheadlines\/index.htm\">Utah Travel Headlines<\/a><br \/>\n&#8212; Handy place to go before you head out to Zion, Bryce Canyon or any of the<br \/>\nother 14,372 totally cool locales that look like the models for Roadrunner<br \/>\ncartoon backdrops. <\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/endlesstrail.blogspot.com\/\">Endless Trail<\/a> &#8212; Jason Thomas&#8217;<br \/>\nblog about hikes near Fresno, CA., which is right next to a major mountain<br \/>\nrange but Jason likes to do the unexpected, so many of his write-ups entail<br \/>\ntrips to the desert.
