The<a href=\"http:\/\/www.fedak.net\/\"> Illustrious Fedak<\/a> sends his regrets but <a href=\"http:\/\/outside.danmitchell.org\/\">Dan Mitchell is a go. <\/a>    The first to volunteer was <a href=\"http:\/\/radio.weblogs.com\/0100021\/\">Tom Clifton.<\/a> Could we see a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.wildebeat.net\">Steve Sergeant<\/a> appearance?  I&#8217;m guessing that w\/all the snow that&#8217;s arrived in the Sierra of late, he&#8217;ll be out skiing all weekend.  But maybe  he&#8217;ll surprise us.<br \/>\n<P>Remember, this is not a blogger-only event.  If you read this blog, you&#8217;re welcome to to join.<br \/>\n<P>The key facts, in review:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Start time is 10 a.m. <\/li>\n<li> Rain does not cancel.<\/li>\n<li> Trailhead is at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.openspace.org\/preserves\/pr_monte_bello.asp\">Monte Bello Open Space Preserve<\/a> in the Santa Cruz Mountains.<\/li>\n<li> To get there: Take the Page Mill Road exit off Interstate 280, go west<br \/>\non Page Mill for about seven miles up into the hills. For door to door (well,<br \/>\ntrail) directions, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.google.com\/lochp?hl=en&#038;tab=wl&#038;q=37.325408333,%20-122.178275%20(Monte%20Bello)%20\">check this Google Maps link.<\/a> Page Mill is curvy and apt<br \/>\nto be crowded with road bikers, so leave yourself a half-hour to complete<br \/>\nthis stretch of road. <\/li>\n<li>It&#8217;s an easy hike to Black Mountain summit, five or six miles (round trip)<br \/>\nmax and minor elevation change.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>More details from a previous post are <a href=\"http:\/\/tommangan.net\/twoheeldrive\/archives\/2006_12.html#003324\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>For those of you unfortunate enough to live outside  the Bay Area of Northern California:   Manage your grief by having a First Hike of your very own.
