KEEN has a new online footwear store and it’s spreading the word by setting up contest giveaways with gullible enterprising outdoors bloggers.

What’s in this for me? Not much, but one of you could win the opportunity to head over the site, pick out something you like and voila, it’s yours. (Shipping’s also free if it’s in the U.S.)

Contest expires at 7 a.m Friday, December 12, 2008. Send me an e-mail to enter (Make sure it says “KEEN contest” in the subject line). I’ll pick somebody at random the morning of Dec. 12 and announce the winner here.

There’s also a deal for free shipping available to everybody through Dec. 12. Coupon code is TWOHEELDRIVE.

I usually don’t go for this promotional stuff (I get enough in my day job) but I’m making an exception because I hike in KEEN boots every weekend and I’m quite fond of mine. They fit nice, get good grip, breathe great while keeping my feet dry (within reason) and dry out very quickly. My model is called the Targhee Mid, but now there’s an upgrade called the Mid II (pictured).

A few other curiosities from the site:

Laguna 2 sandals for women. KEEN used to be a sandal company but it got ambitious. My boots are basically fully enclosed versions of KEEN sandals.

Winterport snow boots. I’m kinda lusting after these just in case I decide to do some snowshoeing this winter.

Menlo Park day pack. Who knew KEEN was selling packs these days? (posted mostly because Menlo Park is a Bay Area town.)

I’m doing this to say thanks for hanging around and feeding my blogging jones. I’ve had good luck with one pair of KEEN shoes and heard good things with others, so I don’t feel too shameless about giving somebody a chance to pick up a free pair.

If you feel like taking a flyer on a chance at a freebie, send me an e-mail with “KEEN contest” in the subject line and your full name in the body. Your e-mail address is safe with me.

May fortune smile on your smelly feet!
