Those Our Hike gals are just outside of Lake Tahoe (4100-plus miles and counting!) and will be crossing the Sierra in a couple days — just in time for the light rains hitting the Bay Area today to turn into snow in the high passes.

This is one of the trickiest times of the year to be in the Sierra because it’s not quite winter yet, but passing storm systems can dump a foot of snow in the high country. You have to be ready for both kinds of climate.

Here’s hoping the weather gods smile on ’em.
