If you’ve been on a trail lately, it should be no surprise that women are out there hiking — in great numbers. In fact, about forty-seven percent of hikers in the U.S. are women.
A hike is a great first date … you could probably learn all you needed to know about somebody by how they hike with somebody else.

I met my husband for the first time at a trailhead. We had emailed beforehand.
We hiked together for a month or so before we started dating. It was a great way to get to know him, and him to know me. 10 mile hikes give one a long time to talk.
In relation to women hiking, in our hiking group men are very much outnumbered, and it is often a 5:1 ratio on trips. The guys that do come on the trips are a hardy breed……they have to be able to check their ego at the trailhead and be able to brag on Monday at work that they hiked with “5 women while you losers were watching football at home”. Lol!
